As you may have guessed, my name is Jeny. In September of 2003, I lost my dad after a short battle with cancer. I was not prepared for the emotional toll that would take on me as a girl in my 20s just finding my way in life and losing one of my best friends. I felt lost and confused but was glad to have my mom and my family by my side.
In March 2026, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 melanoma of the scalp. In April of the same year, she had a large portion of her scalp removed. Thankfully the cancer on her scalp was all removed. Unfortunately, they did find some cancer cells in some of her lymph nodes that were removed. At this time, she is going through immunotherapy every 3 weeks and man is she my Hero!!! And doesn't she look amazing in her hats?!
During this time, she was in need of things to help her with her mobility and after care. I spent a lot of time doing research and, in her home, making sure it was safe for her. I was glad I was not currently employed so I could be there for her to help her. And thought a lot about people who may be in the same situation but not have someone to help.
I was also sending out text updates to friends and family of how she's doing and heard a lot of "Everyone needs a Jeny!" and with that... the idea of Jeny's Helping Hands was born!!
